The J.B.&.S.A was formed in1923. It has some eight active clubs in the Island, the Mechanics being the largest with eight tables. The First tower Institute being the second with six tables. Services, St Brelade, St Aubin, and Vinchelez have two tables with the Aliance and Police clubs having only one.
The league season normaly starts from September to April. The Island competitions are played throughout the season with the inter insular matches against Guernsey in April.
